Bittersweet Resort

“If the process is what you love most, every expedition is successful, whether you get to the top or not.”

JP Auclair

The Resort

Bittersweet Resort in the southwest region of the lower peninsula of Michigan, is a fantastic resort that offers a little bit of everything so that every visitor has a great day on the hill.

Topping out with 350 vertical feet, Bittersweet has six total chairs (two are high-speed quads) two rope tows, and three carpets, Bittersweet really does have a great array of options for you! Ticket prices are reasonable, snow is great, the terrain provides a run that everyone will love, and guess what, no matter if you ski or board, the memories will be long-lasting.

A day on the hill...

Although I did not have a bluebird day, the snow was great and I was able to make lap after lap, going from one end of the hill to the other. Riding every chair and getting at least two runs on each run. Overall, my favorite run was Columbine. As an intermediate run, it is accessible to almost everyone, but the cool factor came from the little rollers on the lower section that boosted this run from your average intermediate to a run that just needed to be taken over and over.

I spent almost four hours on the hill and was able to lap 37 runs, accumulate 7,101 vertical feet, and cross 13.7 total miles skied (thank you Strava for the details!).

What I think...

What a great experience, the snow was fantastic and the terrain variety was great. Although I am not a boarder or one who would spend time in the park, the park did look great. I was lucky to be here on a day when the lines were short, but even on busy day, there is so much room to roam, it would be hard not to have a fun day.

All in all, the snow was great and the groomers did a wonderful job of setting up the snow for a memorable day on the hill. If you have the time, spending a day at Bittersweet is a good idea. The vertical might be less than some other hills in the "mitten" but Bittersweet really does go the extra mile to make the time on the hill enjoyable!

Should you go?

Absolutely!

A short drive from Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and even northern Indiana, Bittersweet Resort is a place to visit. Get out there and point those skis and snowboards down the hill, you really won't regret the time!
